Every year on the first Sunday of Advent, candles are lit on the Christmas tree in Copenhagen's Town Hall Square, a tradition that dates back to 1914. In this year's motif on the Royal Copenhagen plaque, a child and his mother wave to Santa Claus as they cross Town Hall Square.
