Venini - Geacolor
In 1995 Gae Aulenti, an Italian internationally renowned architect, draws for Venini the "Geacolor" vessel which will deeply mark the production of the company. The processing technique has a very interesting polychrome effect. The vase is in fact initially blown inside a mold to get a perfectly spherical shape
At this point, more than forty transparent colored glass bubbles are blown and attached, then cleverly broken so as to obtain irregular colored glass layers. The desired shape prepared the so-called warm and hand-held color retrieval by helping the color to shape the surface of the object.
This process occurs for each color and, only at the end, the compact block is warmed one last time to mix the entire surface. The technique of overlaps of colors generates irregular protrusions and informs that constitute the diversity and uniqueness of each single vessel.
