Alessi centenary - 9090 perforated handle
The 9090 coffee maker is the coffee maker par excellence, an Italian design icon, designed by the huge Richard Sapper designer for Alessi.
The 9090 is the first expressed coffee maker in Alessi's history, but also the first of numerous compassed gold premiums and the first Alessi object exhibited at the New York Moma. "I wanted to give this performance machine that others don't have". With these words Richard Sapper described the idea from which he left. The 9090 is original not only for its particular form, but also for some functional innovations, such as the extended base that allows maximum use of heat, the anti-drip spout and lever closure that allows you to open it with a simple hand gesture .
Perforated handle version - Gas and Induction
The 9090 perforated handle is a version that pays homage to the genius of his author presenting himself to the public with a handle he designed and never up until now realized. The handle, drilled to increase the dispersion of heat, is a functional detail as aesthetically expressive. The red color was used by Richard Sapper to emphasize the moving and joint elements of him, just like this particular handle that, in his movement, contains an innovative closure system.
